COVID-19 response:

Emergency Preparedness plans underway

In response to the global COVID-19 pandemic, the New Jersey Department of Agriculture has determined that farmers markets are an essential business and important source of food for many throughout the Garden State.

As concerns about the spread of COVID-19 grow, farmers market operators, are considering how best to respond to the needs of both the farmers and the community. Likewise, we remain steadfast in our mission to provide healthy food access to families and economic development opportunities for our vendors. However, we are grappling with the overarching social responsibility to protect the health, safety and lives of each child, consumer, vendor, volunteer and Capital Area YMCA staff members.

That said, we are currently working diligently to gather information and resources to develop a comprehensive COVID-19 preparedness plan: making necessary adjustments to promote social distancing; eliminating festivals and special events; increasing access to hand sanitizer/washing stations for staff, vendors and patrons; and considering all operational changes that may reduce the opportunity for infection.

The Greenwood Ave. Farmers Market (GAFM) management team will regularly update this page with information, announcements and updates as this unprecedented crisis continues to unfold.
