New Camps Starting July 13th at Prospect Village and Capital Area YMCA – running for 6 weeks!
Summer is the time of year when children make new memories, positive development experiences and build lifelong skills and friendships. At the Capital Area YMCA Summer Day Camps, your child will experience and build confidence through planned activities suited to their age. Children experience a sense of achievement through opportunities in the outdoors and are welcomed to a physically and emotionally safe and stimulating environment whether in a Y facility or at outdoors. This year, we are running a Summer Achievement Camp with limited enrollment. Day campers are able to explore creativity, teamwork and leadership in a wide range of active programs that influence lifelong healthy living. They have the opportunity to learn and have fun in an environment where they develop an appreciation of learning, all while having fun and under the direction of trained and certified staff.
During the summer months, children who lack quality learning experiences tend to lose academic skills over the school break. Such losses accumulate year after year. Studies have shown that by the end of eighth grade, summer learning loss can account for 66 percent of the achievement gap between low- and high-income students.
